The Evolution of Collembola Higher Taxa (Arthropoda, Hexapoda) Based on Mitogenome Data

Mitogenomes represent useful tools for investigating the phylogeny of many metazoan clades. Regarding Collembola, use mitogenomics has already shown promising results, but few published works include sufficient taxon sampling to study its evolution and systematics on a broader scale. Here, we present phylogenetic based mitogenomes 124 species from 24 subfamilies, 16 families, four orders—one most comprehensive datasets used in molecular Collembola date—and compare our results with trees recently papers traditional systematic hypotheses. Our main analysis supported validity orders clustering Poduromorpha Entomobryomorpha (the Arthropleona). data also split Symphypleona s. str. into Appendiciphora Sminthuridida suborders, division Neelipleona two subfamilies: Neelinae Neelidinae subfam. nov. On other hand, lat., Isotomoidea, all Isotomidae subfamilies were refuted by analyses, indicating need revision latter family. Though are endorsed recent findings, highlight additional mitogenomic some key taxa inclusion nuclear markers resolve residual problematic relationships.
